I wanted a change & a new start
When I was asked to move to Hawaii
I was ready for a new adventure & a new heart
To see what my eyes could see
I came to Hawaii like a seed in the wind
I didn’t have a home or a clue
I soon grew roots n sprouted to bend
Learning to love the island & its colors too
I moved to Hawaii when I was just a kid
I didn’t know anyone or what to do
But I soon found friends and a place to fit in
Learning to love the island and its beauty too
I love my life in this Hawaiian aloha state
Where the sun is a friend and the breeze feels great
I love the culture and the people here
They have plenty aloha and they like drink beer
But when I arrived, like I could die
I saw something that I didn’t expect
The mountain of fire was alive
Soon a sight I couldn’t forget
The mountain of fire started to erupt
It spewed lava and ash all over the land
It threatened to destroy everything we loved
It made us think about our lives and our plans
So I wasn’t scared and I wasn’t sad
I saw the power of her beauty
I was amazed and I was glad
Taking hold I saw her rooting
Beware there’s a danger behind the story
As she will erupt all over
The mountain of fire in full glory
Like she’s searching for her lover
Now the mountain of fire is calm again
She left behind new land and anew story
With love for our island again we begin
We still cherish our paradise and it’s glory
Living in Hawaii
The mountain of fire always there
I love the island and its people
A sense of life always there
Living in Hawaii, living in Hawaii
It’s paradise, oh paradise
Living in Hawaii, living in Hawaii
It’s my life, oh my life
